Federal Skilled Trades Program

Build Your Future in Canada

Skilled trades workers are the backbone of Canada’s growing industries. If you have at least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade (like construction, electrical work, or manufacturing) within the last five years, you could qualify under the Federal Skilled Trades Program.

Equally important, you must have either a valid job offer of full-time employment in Canada for at least one year or a certificate of qualification from a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority. Language requirements are lower here: CLB 5 for speaking and listening, and CLB 4 for reading and writing.

Common Mistakes

Common errors include applying without a valid job offer or missing the trade certification requirements. These mistakes can lead to frustrating delays or refusals.
