Katrina Berube
Immigration Lawyer
From a young debater in South Korea to an immigration lawyer in Canada, my path has been shaped by a passion for advocacy and human rights.
I'm Katrina Berube, and my journey in law began at the University of Toronto, where I studied International Human Rights Law, laying the foundation for my career in immigration.
I was called to Ontario Bar and practiced Immigration and Refugee Law from 2007 in Toronto.
Between 2012 and 2015, I had the privilege of representing about 200 North Korean refugees, an experience that deepened my commitment to helping those seeking new beginnings.
In 2016, I embarked on my own new chapter as a sole practitioner, moving to Vancouver and bringing with me a firsthand understanding of the immigrant experience.
Joining Duplessis Law in 2023 was an exciting step in my career. Here, I combine my legal expertise with my personal insights as a newcomer to serve our immigration clients with empathy and precision. My multicultural background is reflected in my language skills - I'm fluent in Korean and English, with a growing understanding of French.
This linguistic versatility, coupled with my love for poetry, allows me to connect with clients on both a professional and personal level.
When I'm not in the office, you'll likely find me taking long, contemplative walks along Vancouver's beautiful seawall, coffee in hand.
These moments remind me of the journeys that bring us all to new shores and new beginnings.
I'm passionate about creating a world filled with peace and harmony, and I believe that my work in immigration law is a step towards that goal.
Whether I'm diving into legal arguments or crafting poetic expressions, my aim is always the same: to help others find their place in this diverse and welcoming country we call home.
